There are few reasons that charge event cannot be started. Please consider these before contacting us by filling in the form:

  1. Make sure that cable is properly connected to the charging station and the vehicle. Sometimes re-plugging solves the issue.
  2. If you are using RFID card, make sure you place the card in the correct place (RFID symbol). Repeat the process a few times.
  3. If you are using the Chargespot app, try to close the app and re-start the charging event.
  4. Check your customer account balance in the Chargespot app or your card balance.
  5. Some chargers are only for private use and requires a separate permission from charge-point-owner. If you think you should have access to use the charger, please contact owner or manager of the charger. Charger is often related to workplace or facility where the charger is located in.
  6. Some chargers may be temporarily offline due to maintenance. Please try again later when the charger will be brought back online.

In rare occasions charging cable may end up stuck inside charger's socket. This may happen due to charger malfunction or connection time out. If this happens don't panic and firstly try stopping the charging event via Chargespot mobile app or the RFID card. If this doesn't help gently try to remove the cable from the socket. In the control panel of many vehicles there is the option of manually unlocking the cable in case it is locked. If none of the solutions above helps, please contact our customer service via phone (183 83, 2130189199), via chat or with a support request.

When charging, the electric vehicle and the charger are in constant discussion with each other regarding how much power can be delivered. The speed of charging depends on many factors and in many cases the maximum power of the charging device is not reached constantly.

The following things affect the charging power:

  1. State and condition of the battery.
  2. Onboard charger of the vehicle.
  3. Charging cable in use.
  4. Load balancing of the charger’s location.
  5. Temperature.

When your electric vehicle's battery is fully charged, current flow is automatically stopped to prevent any harm doing to your car's battery.

Chargespot parking spots only apply to electric vehicles using the charger.

Schuko: is meant for using small appliances and is suitable for temporary charging of electric vehicles. It is not recommended for long-term use. The charging power with Schuko outlet is very limited.

Type2: is an EU standard in charging and the most common plug used today. Type2 is used for AC charging and is commonly used in cases where your car is parked for a few hours such as when visiting shopping malls, workplaces or residential buildings. Charging speeds via Type2 are much higher than compared to your usual wall socket but is mostly determined by the vehicle itself.

CCS: is an European standard for quick charging. CCS plug gives power out as direct current (DC) which means the charging power is significantly higher. CCS plugs are usually found along highways where the stop for charging is kept in minimum.

CHAdeMO: is a Japanese standard for quick charging. Usually, quick chargers are equipped with both CHAdeMO and CCS plugs to allow maximum compatibility.

AC and DC is short for Alternating Current and Direct Current respectively. Batteries in electric vehicles, store energy in DC format.

We recommend that you call the incident hotline only in cases where you have problem with charging on-site. This way we can ensure that customers in need of immediate assistance can get the help they need as quickly as possible.

The most common working solutions to the most common issues at a charging station:

1. Can't start charging?

If you are sure you have the right to use a station (valid customer details, cash balance available), checking the cable connection or waiting for a bit and trying again helps in most cases. This gives the charger a new chance to communicate with our platform.

2. Can't stop charging?

As above, trying again is the best help here. Try, both, with your RFID and the Chargespot app.

3. Can't release the cable?

You should always be able to release the cable from the car. Depending on the car model, there is a release or open socket button. Also toggling the central locking system of the car often releases the cable. This often releases the cable also from the charger. If the cable is yours and still attached to the charger, please contact our customer support.
